A 732m² exhibition stand concept, named SUZUKI's #1 choice
Concept render from the winning pitch — see "Status" below for what's confirmed about this project's outcome.
Having previously designed, managed and delivered a number of exhibition and event projects, I was invited — as LUXMedia Ltd's Account Director — to tender for SUZUKI GB PLC's presence at the Carole Nash International Motorcycle & Scooter Show, held annually at Birmingham's NEC. LUXMedia was shortlisted from over a dozen specialist events and exhibition agencies, then progressed to a final two. Our proposal was named SUZUKI's #1 choice for the 2009 show.
SUZUKI GB PLC had reserved 732m² (30.5m × 24m) of floor space, with a clear brief: display the entire motorcycle range including three new model unveils, host a retail section for parts and accessories, conform to SUZUKI's "The Way of Life" brand values, drive prospect data capture, and showcase every model category — Street, Supersport, Scooter, Cruiser, Off-Road and ATV — while honouring SUZUKI's 100th anniversary.
As Account Director I led the client relationship and shepherded the tender end to end, working alongside LUXMedia's events, operations, creative and logistics team. The proposal organised the stand entirely around SUZUKI's bike categories, each marked by its own suspended 6m × 3m graphic. Manga-inspired visual language was blended with SUZUKI's own "Way of Life for 100 Years" brand line and Japanese-inspired materials — rice paper, lanterns, Japanese lettering — to link the stand's Western pop-culture reference points back to SUZUKI's Japanese heritage. A programmed motor was proposed to raise a "100 Year" graphic reveal cube at the centre of the stand, timed against two large video displays and an optional 5m × 5m video floor for the bike reveals.
