How the work gets made

Senior judgement. A modern production system. One accountable lead.

Growth comes from brand and marketing pulling in the same direction, and increasingly, from how efficiently that alignment gets delivered. I run a tightly structured production system that lets one experienced lead operate at the pace and range of a full creative team: strategy, direction, copy, analysis, social and systems, each with its own clear owner and brief. The tools speed up production. What gets approved, and what doesn't, is still down to me.

Human: Human: briefed, composed, refined, approved.

AI delivers it. Judgement wrote it.

Most businesses don't actually need more AI. They need someone who already knows which tools are worth trusting, and the judgement to know when they're not enough.

That judgement comes from thirty years leading creative and design work, from startups to a five-hundred-million-a-month division inside GE, agency-grade output led throughout by one accountable senior hand. These days, that same output gets reviewed and refined daily against whatever the best AI tools can genuinely do.

Better return on your design and marketing spend. Less overhead than a full in-house team, with the sign-off chains and slow cycles of old-school production stripped out, and nothing skips the checks before it reaches you. Work that keeps you ahead of competitors who are still working out what to trust.

01

The Strategist

Brand strategy, positioning and messaging. First read on every brief before a pixel gets touched.

02

The Creative Director

Visual direction and concept development. Holds the line on taste and consistency across every output.

03

The Copywriter

Campaign copy, tone of voice and scripts, built to a defined voice, not a generic one.

04

The Analyst

Data interpretation, reporting and insight, so decisions are made on evidence, not instinct alone.

05

The Social Lead

Content planning and platform strategy, matched to where the audience actually is.

06

The Systems Architect

Workflow design, tool stack and automation. The plumbing that lets the other five scale.

"More of the output that once required a full in-house agency can now be led by one experienced creative lead with the right judgement, the right systems and some genuinely capable tools. The advantage won't go to the businesses using the most AI. It will go to those willing to rethink how creative work is conceived, built and scaled." — from a recent production note on weServed™'s AI-assisted campaign workflow
Selected production stack

The tools change. The standard doesn't.

Where I add the most value.

01

Clarity first

Most briefs arrive tangled. I find the gap between what a business says it is and what the market actually sees, then map the path that fits that brand specifically, not a template borrowed from the last client.

02

Judgement over tools

AI accelerates production, but only in the hands of someone who's actually tested what these tools can do, day to day. Every asset still goes through the same standard: does this feel human, credible and worth the audience's attention.

03

Built to scale

Brand guidelines, reusable systems and documented workflows, so quality holds whether one person or ten are producing the work.

The 60-second version

More output isn't the answer. Better judgement and better systems are.

Most organisations already have tools, teams and channels. The gap is usually alignment: a clear proposition, one creative standard and a production system capable of carrying it consistently.

That is the model I'm building — experienced creative leadership supported by genuinely useful technology, with one accountable human deciding what is good enough to leave the studio.

weServed™ employment campaign artwork.

The brief

weServed™ exists so Veterans and their families don't have to work hard to find help after service ends: employment, healthcare, wellbeing, community and offers, brought under one roof. weServed™ was co-founded by Hugh Andrée and Annabel Jamieson, and is chaired by Brigadier (Retd) Ed Butler CBE, DSO.

The approach

I lead brand, UX, content and creative operations, having helped take the platform from MVP to full launch alongside a small founding team and offshore development support. Brand guidelines now run consistently across product, web, social, email and campaign material. Helped build organic audience growth without reliance on paid acquisition as weServed™ progressed from early proposition and MVP through national launch into an evolving multi-service platform. My scope has also included investor decks (built from information supplied by the founding team), showreels, and visual design for crowdfunding campaigns.

AI-enabled production

On the production side, I built and run a small AI-enabled creative operation: reusable prompt systems, QA passes and a structured workflow across Figma, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and current-generation AI video and voice tools. The system helps produce campaign-grade content efficiently for a sensitive, purpose-led community while keeping the tone human and appropriate.

What I delivered

  • Brand and product identity carried from MVP through national launch.
  • UX, content and creative direction across product, web, social, email and campaign material.
  • Brand Guidelines v2.0 — a full system for logo usage, colour, type, voice and UI patterns.
  • Investor decks, built from information supplied by the founding team.
  • Showreels and visual design for crowdfunding campaigns.
  • A governed eight-stage creative lifecycle — ideation through archiving — so brand, product and campaign work is reused rather than reinvented per brief.

cinch × ITV StarstruckUX Strategy & Design — via Umbrella Promotional Risk Management, 2022
UX · Campaign +

Brought in on an urgent brief: Constellation Automotive Group's cinch needed a new UX strategy live before its ITV primetime sponsorship of Starstruck went to air, with a hard broadcast date and no room to slip.

I restructured the site to prioritise competitions and partner content ahead of the existing partner-led layout, added countdown timers, calendar integration and invite-a-friend mechanics, and delivered it inside the deadline with every stakeholder still signing off. Client reporting described strong consumer engagement and increased subscriber contact capture following launch.

Carrot ExchangeCreative Direction & Launch Showreel — via Digital Fibre, 2017
Brand · Video · Launch +

Off the back of EasySource, the same team at Digital Fibre brought me in again: this time for Carrot Exchange, an all-new employee incentive and rewards platform, to write, direct and produce its launch showreel.

Working directly with founder Torstein Sørlid and product lead Dan Wellsted, I built a video designed to land the pitch in under two minutes: reward and recognition made simple, for HR teams tired of solving it with time, money and patience alone.

Same production discipline as everything else here, aimed at making a new platform launch feel instantly credible rather than another rewards-platform pitch deck.

i-group™ — Mortgage Business ExpoMarketing & Design Manager — GE Capital / GE Money, 2002 to 2005
Events · Campaign +

GE's secured lending division, i-group, needed to stand out at Mortgage Business Expo, inside a business writing in excess of £500m a month. I planned and delivered the stand, the campaign and the stunt: a Lamborghini Murciélago rendered in i-group livery under the line "The Power Behind Your Team", timed against a Top Gear road test the week before the show.

It generated 500+ qualified leads a day, a £7,000 floor-space discount and a £10,000 stand-materials discount, both negotiated directly. The work was put forward for Employee of the Quarter by Jonathan Sadler, GE's Sales and Marketing Director, out of a workforce of 1,000+.

Johnson & Johnson's ASP division, specialists in endoscope sterilisation, needed an interactive experience for international training groups before committing to a bespoke app.

Rather than recommend a costly build with an uncertain outcome, I proposed and delivered an interactive PDF instead: multilingual, cloud-collated feedback, and fast to iterate across European focus groups, at a fraction of the cost and time. It shipped as the pilot ahead of full iOS development.

I led concept development, UX direction and the investor pitch itself — pitch document, promotional concept video and a full click-through prototype — through to an initial £190,000 seed investment from a panel of angel investors. About

I'm a senior creative and design leader with over 30 years across brand, digital, UX, product storytelling and go-to-market delivery. My strength is seeing the whole shape of a business quickly: the offer, the gap, the audience and the weak link, then building the brand, UX and creative systems needed to close it.

Technically fluent rather than code-first, I work confidently alongside full-stack developers, cloud engineering teams and senior stakeholders across Agile and PDLC-governed environments. I've led creative and product work from startups to a £500m-a-month lending division inside GE, and stepped into an IIoT venture as director and shareholder, turning it into a system that plays a role in the UK's Covid-19 vaccine safeguarding effort.

More recently that's extended into AI-enabled creative operations. Not automation for its own sake, but using the right tools to scale sharper insight, stronger storytelling and better consistency, while keeping brand voice and human judgement firmly in charge.

I work across senior creative leadership, fractional strategic support and selected high-value project work, alongside ongoing client and consultancy work.

Two years, one gasket at a time.

Classic car restoration is a long-running habit of mine, and it runs on the same standard I bring to client work: build it better, not just back to original.

This 1991 JDM Honda NSX took two years of evenings and weekends: a full bare-metal respray, an automatic-to-manual transmission conversion, a 2002 facelift, forged wheels, and more research than most client briefs ever require.

Same obsession with detail. Different kind of deadline.

Let's get to work.
